I HAVE A PASSION TO WORK WITH SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS AND HELP THEM REALIZE THEIR DREAMS.
My father owns a local pharmacy in the town where I grew up, and my husband built an internet marketing firm called Zeekee. They both started from the ground up and created incredibly successful businesses. I watched their struggles. I saw how they were taken advantage of by some companies. My goal with Focus Creative is to provide a service to businesses that will help them grow, plus reach their goals and full potential.
MEET FASHION ECOMMERCE BRAND – GILDED GARMENT
There is no exception with female-owned, Birmingham-based business Gilded Garment. To owner Erin Poe, she hopes that she can help her customers find confidence, and therefore joy, through fashion. It’s this joy for fashion that Erin found as a child, that exists today, and that she hopes she can share with others forever.
She started her ecommerce business in 2017 and is ready to take it to the next level with her photo game and overall brand image. She worked with the ladies from MModern to update her brand in 2018 and has now partnered with us at Focus Creative to help with her online brand image and photography.
When do you know if your ecommerce business needs photography?
The way your customers perceive your brand depends – to a large extent – on the content you share with them and the way you represent your products in those photos and videos. Accurately showcasing the best features of what you’re selling is key to a successful brand representation and customer satisfaction. That’s why it’s a good idea to spend some time and resources on a professional product photography.
Many people underestimate what it takes to pull off a commercial photoshoot, and in turn, don’t maximize their time with their photographer. Here are few tips to help make sure you get the most out of your product shoots.
Erin is the queen of being organized for her photoshoots, and we normally get anywhere from 10-20 outfits done in a single session! Being prepared and effectively sharing your vision with your photographer can help the process run very smoothly. I have been blown away by how on top of everything Erin is, and it certainly shows with the volume we’re able to accomplish each week!
How to plan for your first product photo shoot:
Planning for your first product photo shoot can be pretty overwhelming. Here are a few tips to make sure you make the most of your time with your professional photographer, model, and any other staff you have on hand.
Have your shot list ready and know exactly what products you want to shoot.
Give a list of all products that you want to shoot to your photographer and check off along the way to make sure you don’t miss anything. This is also a good thing to leave with your photographer, so they can rename the photos for web and add any keywords in the metadata of the image.
Scout the photo shoot location with your photographer if it’s somewhere they have never used before to make sure you’re shooting at the best time of day for light and so everyone will be on the same page about the backdrop / scene you are using.
Pull all of your products ahead of time and make sure they are cleaned and steamed if needed. Look out for finger prints and other imperfections that will show up when doing macro photography.
Allow time for hair and makeup if needed.
Do you want to use props in the photos? Make sure to have those on hand if so.
I hope this helps you when planning for your first product photo shoot!
